GED Testing with Philadelphia Department of Prison

Don't have your high school diploma?  Are you an inmate in the Philadelphia Department of Prisons?  Were you released within the past two years?

Temple's Lenfest Center for Community Workforce Partnerships conducts GED testing on-site at the Philadelphia Department of Prisons on State Road.  If you were recently released from the Philadelphia Department of Prisons, the Lenfest Center for Community Workforce Partnerships can help pay the $120 GED testing fees.

Returning citizens can get assessed using GED Ready and Practice Tests to see if they are "likely to pass."  Returning citizens will be encouraged to enroll in the WELL program if they need additional instruction.

Target Population

Inmates and returning citizens from the Philadelphia Department of Prisons who want to attain a high school equivalency (GED or HiSET certification)

Eligibility Requirements
  • Individuals without a high school diploma
  • Inmates with the Philadelphia Department of Prisons 
  • Returning citizens released within two years from the Philadelphia Department of Prisons 
Application Process

A staff person will reply to your email message and provide information about GED classes.

You will be invited to an Orientation Session and meet with staff to go over your educational and career goals, as well as what Temple can offer.

You will be able to take academic assessments, including GED Practice Tests.

Qualified candidates can receive a $30 GED test vouchers for each subject, if the GED Practice Tests shows that the individual is "Likely to Pass."

Monday through Friday:   9:00 AM to 5:00 PM

Alternative hours can be scheduled by appointment.
