With funding from the PA Women Work, the New Choices Career Development program provides serious instruction for those who want to return to work. Our goal with the training is to help learners gain entry-level jobs in non-traditional fields, and support them as they move forward in their careers. Participants learn personal effectiveness skills, are exposed to career development services, have an opportunity to engage in internships, and earn some tuition for post-secondary educational opportunities. NCCD Curriculum Workshop Cohorts are scheduled for 5 weeks, two hours per week.
Program activity also includes one-on-one career coaching sessions and specialized workshops, in addition to those that comprise the training calendar above. Special events such as Hiring Fairs, site visits to Employers, Job Fairs at outside agencies, and Personal Effectiveness classes, are also conducted throughout the program year.
